| January 27th I have some great news to announce, but first of all I need to say one thing... The 'MyDoom' virus is spreading around the Internet very quickly. If you receive any e-mails, even from someone you know and trust, that say "The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment" or "The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment", DO NOT open the attached file! If you already have, please notify everyone in your address book and tell them not to open it if they received it from you. Also, update your virus definitions for whatever antivirus program you use. If you don't have an antivirus program, there are several free ones on the Internet, so there's no excuse not to use one. McAfee and Symantec also offer free online scans, and while they can't clean out your virus, they can tell you if you're infected. The site and my e-mail were both down the majority of the day, and when I opened my inbox, I found someone attempting to send me MyDoom. Okay, now that that's out of the way... I have some GREAT news concerning Anime Express VII! The hotel it was going to be held at has recently come under new management, which conveniently forgot about AE7. The convention is being moved back to Embry Riddle University. In my opinion, this is a much better location and will allow many more people to attend since the cost is cut so dramatically. Be warned, there is also a car-show occurring the same weekend as AE7, so if you want to get a hotel nearby for a reasonable price, then you better book one now. I've added their new website link to the Upcoming Events section so you can keep tabs on any coming news regarding AE7. I hope to see you all there, kicking off the new Floridian con season! January 20th Ahh, finally someone found the website for Anime Express! Caboosey of the Wasabi of Pensacola anime club sent me the address. Unfortunately, the site hasn't actually been updated since before Anime Express VI, back in 2003! You won't get any information about Anime Express VII on the site since they're not able to update it at the moment. It's looking like this year's Anime Express will be moving from its location at Embry Riddle University to a Radisson Resort on the beach. Mind you, this is on the beach, during spring break, so you may want to get reservations now if you plan to attend. Since this is in a hotel, you obviously won't be able to put a sleeping bag on the hall floor for free like you could last year. To find out the current information, go to this link on Wasabi Anime of Florida's forums. I'm sorry updates have been so slow, lately... Though, I'm working on trying to contact more artists to add more to the art galleries. If you have art that you'd like to display, e-mail me! January 1st Ahh, today marks the first Birthday of AnimeBelle.com! It doesn't feel like a year... But, this means there's a new year of conventions coming up. I plan to be attending Anime Express, FitCon, JACON, DreamCon, MetroCon, and Anime Weekend Atlanta. MegaCon and AFO are also on the 'maybe' list. I know it sounds like my whole year is filled up, but with the exception of Anime Weekend Atlanta, all of these cons are jammed into the span of only five months. Ick, why can't these guys spread out some? Speaking of which... Anime Express VII at Daytona Beach should be coming in March, but I can't seem to track down an address for the AE7 website. If anyone has it, I'd appreciate it if you could send it to me! |
