I Hate Bots

So, I decided to take a look at AnimeBelle's site statistics.  I was shocked to find that after only 21 days, AnimeBelle's forums alone had racked up 6.52gb of traffic!  Mind you, that's just forums.animebelle.com, so it doesn't involve galleries or any other content.  I decided to take a closer look, and found that only about 500mb of this traffic was from actual use.  6.03 gigs of traffic came from bots.

Googlebot racked up 2.93gb of traffic by itself, which I don't mind so much since it's combing the site for keywords.  Because of this bot, people can find their way to our forums via Google.  Yahoo Slurp has racked up 2.17, which is pretty much the same deal except, well... Who uses Yahoo anymore?

The one that really bugs me is Mail.ru Bot.  Their 595mb doesn't look so bad, but I can't help noticing that a considerable number of our spam posters come from .ru (or even mail.ru) email addresses, or .ru hostnames.  Bleh.

Fun Fact: The #7 search keyphrase to lead people to the AnimeBelle forum this month is "pictures of fruits".  Last month, the #9 term was "random excitement".
